History of this Piano:
This piano has the most amazing history and back story; it was previously located at a beautiful grand old home in Hyde Park, Adelaide. The piano was originally purchased brand new by the previous owners great grandmother in 1899 from the famous Harrods Luxury Department Store, Piano Department, Knightsbridge, London.
 
The official plate with Harrods stock number still amazingly remains fixed in the inner rim of the piano (see photo). This particular model is the 190cm ‘Style 9’ with Blüthner Patent Aliquot Scale, the Aliquote scale consists of a 4th string that sits above the main treble strings and is tuned an octave higher. The vibrations from the treble resonate against this 4th string creating a tone in the treble that has a beautiful colour to it like no other piano.
 
The piano was transported to Adelaide when the family emigrated here in 1950 and has amazingly remained in the same spot in the family residence for over 80 years since. We have tuned this piano for the previous owners for many and when it became available for sale, we absolutely jumped at the chance to purchase the piano to restore and sell.
 
The piano has an amazing European bark Rosewood cabinet with the most beautiful graining features. It has classic square legs and music desk with a turned feature pedal lyre.
 
These rare Blüthner grand pianos fully restored in Europe are now fetching in excess of $80k AUD. Due to the amazing original condition of this piano, and to keep its authenticity, a full restoration was not required.

Work conducted on the piano by us has consisted of a full strip back to bare wood and full re French polish of the exterior cabinet. Full refurbishment of the original Blüthner Patent playing action and ivory keyboard, full clean and detail of the frame, strings and soundboard.
