We have just taken delivery of quite possibly, the rarest piano ever located in Australia; an extremely rare and highly collectable Steinway & Sons, Model D ‘Heirloom Collection’ Concert Grand Piano.
This piano was previously the concert grand piano in the main concert hall of Government House, Hobart Domain, Tasmania. It was privately purchased from the Tasmanian State Government in 1988 and has remained in the same family home in Sandy Bay, Hobart ever since.
Due to our connection with Steinway & Sons Australia, We were privately contacted regarding purchasing this piano by the previous owners, a prominent local family in Hobart, Tasmania.
This is the only known example of a Steinway & Sons, ‘Heirloom Collection’ Model D Concert Grand Piano that we are aware of available in Australia and the only example we have seen in the past 40 years.
A restored example of this exact same model can be found on the official Steinway & Sons Website at the following link, this piano recently sold for over $300,000 AUD.
